BOONEVILLE – Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris added another standout player to his 2010-11 signing class.
Farris announced that Austin Swart, a 6-0,180-pound shortstop and pitcher from Nanih Waiya Attendance Center (NWAC) in Louisville, has inked to play for the Tigers next season.
“This is another signee that we can’t wait to get on campus and get him out on the diamond,” said Farris. “Austin can really play some baseball and is a great athlete. We are glad that he chose Northeast to continue his athletic and academic aspirations.”
Swart held a .417 batting average, .527 on base percentage, while producing a slugging percentage of .792 his senior year for the Warriors. He also scored 34 runs, had 30 hits in 72 at bats while knocking in 39 RBI and seven homers for the Warriors.
At the shortstop, Swart boasted a .859 fielding average while on the mound he led the way with an earn run average of 2.39 posting an impressive record of 7-1.
Swart was selected to the Division 5-1A all-district teams in 2008, 2009, and 2010, all-state in 2010, and was selected as the best offensive player three years in a row from 2008-2010. He also was a letter winner for the Warrior football and basketball programs. Swart was an all-district football player his senior year and was also awarded all-state honors for his play on the gridiron during the 2009-10 season.
