Northwest blanks Hinds, goes to 2-0

SENATOBIA – Casey Weston passed for 337 yards and three touchdowns Thursday to lead the NJCAA’s No. 19-ranked Rangers to their second consecutive victory.
Weston, who completed 30-of-42 passes, connected for seven yards to Xavier Lee, eight yards to Otis Mays and four yards to Marquise Green for touchdowns. Kevin Buford’s 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter gave Northwest (2-0) its final points.
Hinds (1-1) was held to 120 yards total offense and committed five turnovers.
Pearl River 42, Northeast 23: Pearl River, ranked No. 11 by the NJCAA, scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns Thursday to defeat visiting Northeast.
Northeast (0-2), which hosts rival Itawamba next Thursday in Booneville, scored two of its touchdowns on passes by Clint Wilson – 50 yards to Alex Carpenter and 27 yards to Dominique King.
Jeremy Cannon, who rushed for 155 yards, scored for the Tigers on a 47-yard run.
