Not much set for next week’s SEC Tournament

By NEMS Daily Journal

With one weekend remaining in the SEC men’s basketball regular season, only two playoff slots are guaranteed – Kentucky at No. 1 and South Carolina at No. 12.
After that, it gets complicated.
Clay Travis, of the popular sports site spent some time gaming out all the possible scenarios for the SEC tourney, which begins next Thursday in New Orleans.
Florida and Vanderbilt are guaranteed byes in the first round, while Alabama – which visits Ole Miss on Saturday – and Tennessee go into the weekend fighting for the fourth and final bye.
A win against Arkansas on Saturday assures Mississippi State of being the No. 6 seed.
With a loss, however, the Bulldogs could tumble to the No. 9 seed depending on how other teams fare on Saturday.
The No. 6 and No. 7 seeds will avoid a potential matchup with Kentucky until the championship game. Ole Miss would clinch one of those spots with a victory against Alabama.
