Ole Miss falls 4-2 to Memphis tennis

By NEMS Daily Journal

OXFORD – The sixth seeded Ole Miss men’s tennis team failed to advance to the Sweet 16, dropping a 4-2 match to Memphis on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Championships.
The Rebels got off to a slow start after dropping the doubles point.
Nik Scholtz won at No.1 singles and Jonas Lutjen – a senior playing his final home match – won at No. 2. But they combined to lose at No. 1 doubles.
“Give Memphis a lot of credit,” Ole Miss head coach Billy Chadwick said.
“It was a combination of us not playing as well as we’re capable, and Memphis playing well.”
Memphis (16-7) advances to face Pepperdine.
