The undefeated soccer programs at Mississippi State and Ole Miss each had a player honored on Tuesday by the SEC league office.
Ole Miss sophomore goalkeeper Kelly McCormick was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for a second straight week. She has helped the Rebels (6-0) post four consecutive shutouts, including wins
last week against UALR and previously unbeaten Texas Tech. She had seven saves in the 2-0 win against Tech.
McCormick is third in the SEC in saves (20) and save percentage (.909).
Also, MSU’s Honeye Heydari was named SEC Freshman of the Week after scoring a pair of game-winning goals for the 5-0
Bulldogs.
Through five college games, the 5-foot-7 forward has five goals and three assists. She and teammate Elisabeth Sullivan are tied for second in the league in points per game (2.6).
