Ole Miss, MSU programs to host NCAA regionals

OXFORD — The Ole Miss men’s tennis team will host the NCAA first and second rounds at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center next week, as will the Rebel women’s team and the men’s program at Mississippi State.

The Rebels ended the season ranked No. 13 in the nation and are the No. 13-seed in the 64-team bracket announced Tuesday. Coming to Oxford for the May 12-13 regional is Binghamtom, Middle Tennessee and Michigan.

The No. 16 Rebel women also will play host to the tournament’s early rounds, marking the first time that’s happened since 1999. Their regional includes teams from Southern University, Rice and Illinois.

Mississippi State’s ninth-ranked men’s squad also will host teams at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on the Starkville campus. Opponents include Baylor, Memphis and Alcorn State.
