NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Former junior college All-American offensive lineman Aaron Douglas has joined Northwestern State as a transfer from Mississippi.

The 6-foot-2, 320-pound Douglas had been working as a second-team center with Ole Miss before deciding to play instead for the Demons, who compete in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision and in the Southland Conference.

First-year Northwestern State coach Jay Thomas says he will try out Douglas at both guard spots and as a center in case senior preseason All-Southland Conference center Warren Jones needs to be relieved.

Before transferring to Ole Miss, where he participated in spring practice and part of August camp, Douglas played center at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he started all 17 games in which he played.
