An impressive weekend for Bobby Wahl culminated Monday with SEC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Wahl, the Ole Miss sophomore righthander, shared the award previously this season.
Wahl was a big factor in both of the Rebels’ wins against No. 1 Florida, pitching eight shutout innings and limiting the Gators to two hits
in a 3-0 victory in Game 1, then being pressed into action as a
pinch-runner and scoring the winning run in a 7-6 comeback win on Sunday.
On the mound, Wahl only one runner past first base and retired 13 of the last 14 he faced. Friday’s game was the first time Florida has been shut
out this season.
In seven starts this season, Wahl is 5-0 with a 1.91 earned run average and an opponents’ batting average of .199.
