OXFORD – Ole Miss freshman football player Bobby Hill has been suspended from the team following his arrest on sexual battery charges.
According to a WTVA report Hill, 19, was booked Tuesday following an incident in which a female told investigators that she was sexually assaulted.
“We are aware of the situation and recognize the proper authorities are responsible for the matter,” Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said in a prepared statement. “Bobby has been indefinitely suspended from all football activities while the process moves forward. We take this very seriously and will make decisions once the course of action is complete.”
The incident occurred at a home shared by two other players, according to a source.
It is not known if recruits were in attendance. A number of prospects were on campus last weekend for official visits.
Hill, a native of Moultrie, Ga., appeared in 10 games playing mostly on special teams but also at cornerback.
He was listed as the No. 3 field cornerback going into the Music City Bowl.
