OXFORD – No. 15 Ole Miss tuned up for the start of SEC season this weekend with Wednesday’s 6-1 win against Memphis, in a match played outdoors at Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
“This match will help us a lot in our preparation for a big weekend at Vanderbilt and Kentucky,” Rebels coach Billy Chadwick said. “We’ll most likely being playing outside at Vanderbilt, and we weathered the tough conditions today. We needed another outdoor match, we needed to be pushed, and we were.”
Ole Miss picked up a point as Adrian Forberg Skogeng and Harry Fowler rallied from a 5-2 deficit to clinch the point in a tiebreaker, 9-8(4) at No. 3 doubles.
Marcel Thiemann clinched the victory by taking out Jordan Smith 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Twin brother Chris Thiemann, playing at No. 5 singles, improved to 8-0 in dual matches by beating John Taylor 6-1, 6-2.
