The Ole Miss women’s basketball team, in the WNIT for the second straight season, takes on Samford tonight at 7 at the Lady Bulldogs’ Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham.
The Rebels (17-14) finished 7-9 in the SEC regular season after a 5-1 start. They defeated South Carolina in the SEC tournament before falling to eventual champion Tennessee in the quarterfinals.
Samford (22-10) lost 72-67 to Chattanooga in the Southern Conference tournament championship game. The program is in its first postseason tournament in its 13th year of existence.
Junior guard Emily London leads the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points a game. She ranks third nationally in 3-point accuracy at 47.0 percent and third nationally in free throw accuracy at 90.5 percent.
All-SEC guard Bianca Thomas is averaging 20.9 points a game for Ole Miss.
Should Ole Miss advance it would face Friday’s Missouri State-Ole Miss winner in a second-round game.
