OXFORD – The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will be back in action today with a homecoming of sorts for long-time coach Van Chancellor.
The Rebels will take on Auburn in a 1 p.m., tip at Tad Smith Coliseum. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net (where available), and Chancellor will serve as analyst for the broadcast.
His former team is struggling. The Rebels (12-9, 2-6 SEC) have dropped three straight, the latest a 61-43 decision at South Carolina on Thursday.
Auburn (10-11, 2-6) lost 66-48 to No. 6 Kentucky Thursday night.
Sophomore point guard Valencia McFarland leads the Rebels with 13.6 points a game.
Senior forward Nikki Byrd adds 13.2 points, a team-high 9.9 rebounds a game and has posted 17 double-doubles.
