The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will try to build momentum from a big road win against a ranked opponent when it returns to play tonight.
The Rebels are back at Tad Smith Coliseum for an 8 p.m., televised tip against No. 17 Kentucky. The game can be seen on Fox Sports South.
Ole Miss (9-9, 2-4 SEC) is coming off a 69-65 win at No. 23 Arkansas on Sunday that snapped a four-game losing streak.
Point guard Valencia McFarland, with 12.0 points a game, is the highest-scoring Ole Miss freshman since Armintie Price, now an assistant coach, averaged 14.9 points in 2004.
Senior Kayla Melson is averaging a team-high 16 points and is the only player – in a lineup that often features three freshmen – to start every game.
Ole Miss has split two games against ranked opponents this season.
Kentucky is led by forward Victoria Dunlap with 17.3 points and 9.2 rebounds.
The Wildcats have won seven of the last 10 meetings including last year’s 80-66 decision in Lexington.
