Ole Miss women's trip to Northeast cancelled

OXFORD – The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will not compete in the St. Peter’s Holiday Classic, because of the winter storm in the Northeast.
The Rebels were originally scheduled to leave from Memphis for Jersey City, N.J., on Monday, but their commercial flight was cancelled. Subsequent efforts to secure a charter flight were unsuccessful.
Tuesday, the team withdrew from the event.
“This just makes sense with the bad weather,” Ole Miss coach Renee Ladner said. “We have probably made the right decision for the safety of the team and with the budget.”
The Rebels would have played Samford tonight and either host St. Peter’s or Central Connecticut State on Thursday.
The non-conference portion of the Ole Miss schedule is now complete. The Rebels open SEC play at home Sunday at 2 p.m. against Vanderbilt.
