OLE MISS WRAP-UP

Seniors sit: Ervin Garnes and John Jackson, two of the club’s three scholarship seniors, didn’t play against the Gators. Andre Burnside, the other scholarship senior, played only four minutes when Anthony Boone sat down briefly because of an injury.

“John strained the MCL on his right knee in practice,” Evans said. “But we’re going with our young guys. They’ve produced and they’ve got to play to mature in this league.”

Boone connects: Anthony Boone hit the first 3-point shot of his career, helping the Rebels to an early 7-2 lead. Boone, a 6-7 sophomore, finished with a career-high 11 rebounds.

“This loss hurts, but we’re close to getting over the hump,” Boone said. “We won’t give up. Don’t worry about that.”

Earlier Saturday, younger brother Michael made a verbal commitment to join the Ole Miss football program. Michael is a 6-5, 290-pound defensive tackle who was selected to the Arkansas All-State team.
