The winter weather forecast for this weekend looks like it would be a good idea to do anything to avoid the outdoors, so why not stay inside at the Tupelo Furniture Market for the All American Boat & Outdoor Show.

For three days starting today, the 100,000-plus square feet in the Tupelo Building will be show off boats (all sizes), skis, recreational vehicles, camper trailers, fishing gear, guns, and other outdoor items. There is plenty of entertainment lined up as well.

“This is a selling show, which gives opportunity for anyone to come look, compare, and even buy while at the show,” said Bill Roberson of the Electronic Playground who handles promotion for the event. “This is the largest of its type in Mississippi, with approximately 60 dealers, distributors, and even manufacturers from a three state area.”

Local banks will be represented in order to make financing available for the higher ticket items, such as campers and boats.

The shows doors open from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $4.50 with children 12 and under admitted free.

Besides a chance to buy and view some outdoor equipment the show will feature two entertainers.

Joe Bowman, one of the fastest gun handlers in the world, will make a return performance. Bowman can draw cook the hammer of a gun, fire, and hit a paper-plate-sized target 30 feet away in less than 1/10th of a second.

“This guy makes Wyatt Earp look slow,” Roberson said.

Bowman’s shows will be at 6:30 p.m. today, 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to Bowman this year’s show will have Bob Karp, of Arizona who holds the title of world’s champion knife thrower.

Karp will be performing at the boat show today at 8 p.m., on Saturday at 12:30, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
