FULTON – Itawamba Community College head softball coach Chad Case announced the signing of Nettleton’s Jessie Patterson and New Hope’s Anna Holley to the Lady Indians 2012 softball roster on Thursday.

Patterson is currently batting .315 with a .428 slugging percentage and .373 on-base percentage. She has scored 20 runs and driven in 11 more this season.

“I’m exciting about signing with ICC,” said the Nettleton right fielder. “I’m looking forward to working hard and helping the team win.”

Patterson will be going for her fourth state championship ring as the Lady Tigers (23-1) take on the St. Patrick Lady Irish (23-5) for the MHSAA Class 3A State Championship this weekend in Ridgeland.

“Moving up to the next level has always been a dream for her,” said Nettleton head coach Chris Kidd. “She’ll be an excellent asset to the program at ICC.”

Holley batted .345 with a .405 slugging percentage and .346 on-base percentage. She drove in 16 runs on 24 singles, five doubles, and had 15 sacrifice bunts to go along with her .994 fielding percentage during her senior campaign.

“I’m really excited,” said the New Hope catcher. “My sister went to ICC and it’s sort of like a family tradition going there. I’m really excited about having this opportunity.”

“Anna is an outstanding young lady and also an outstanding athlete,” said New Hope head coach Tabitha Beard. “She’s just that type of player you want in your lineup with her attitude and work ethic she’s the complete package.”

Holley will also play soccer for Coach Mike Sullivan and the Lady Indians next season.

“We’re really excited about adding these two young ladies to the roster,” said Case. “They both come from extremely successful programs that are coached by two outstanding coaches. Hopefully they’ll be able to bring their leadership and success to ICC over the next two seasons.”
