Polk, Palmeiro are part
of new college hall class
n Former Mississippi State coach Ron Polk and one of his brightest stars, Rafael Palmeiro, will be inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame on July 3.
Polk, the winningest coach in any sport in SEC history (1,373-700-2) led three teams to the College World Series (Georgia Southern, MSU and Georgia. Palmeiro, a three-time All-American in Starkville, went on to a prolific major league career.
They are part of a class to be inducted during ceremonies at Lubbock, Texas.
The other players: Joe Carter and Darren Dreifort of Wichita State; Kirk Dressendorfer, Texas; Barry Larkin, Michigan; Todd Walker, LSU.
