Former Ole Miss left-hander Drew Pomeranz is one of three finalists for the 24th annual Dick Howser Trophy, honoring the top collegiate baseball player in the country.
Pomeranz, the fifth overall pick in the recent MLB Draft by Cleveland, is joined as a finalist by Miami catcher Yasmani Grandal and Rice third baseman Stephen Rendon.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be named a finalist for this award,” said Pomeranz, a first-team All-American who went 9-2 with a 2.24 ERA this past season for the Rebels.
The College Baseball Foundation announced the three finalists on Saturday in conjunction with the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The award will be presented on July 2 in Lubbock, Texas.
