Katy McAuley finished 20th overall in a field of 235 runners to lead Pontotoc to a second-place team finish in Saturday’s Jesse Owens Classic in Oakville, Ala.
Running the girls silver division, McAuley was clocked in 20 minutes, 30 seconds on the 5K course,
In the girls gold division, Tupelo placed seventh overall. Christina Daniels, an eighth grader, was the Lady Wave’s top runner with a 22nd-place finish in 19:27. Her teammate, senior Katherine Steinman, was 26th in 19:31.
In the boys silver competition, Pontotoc was fourth overall with Luke Hatcher finishing 19th in 16:58 on a 5K course.
In the boys gold division, Tupelo was 17th overall with Harrison Campeau finishing 41st in 16:54.
In the junior high girls division, Pontotoc was second and Tupelo eighth. Stevie Ferguson was 12th overall for Pontotoc in 13:52 on a 2.1-mile course.
In the junior high boys division, Tupelo was second and Pontotoc 21st. Blake Beadles was 13th for Tupelo in 11:55.25 while Jack Nance with 14th on 11:55.63.
