Pontotoc hires Vandiver as boys basketball coach

By Tim Tutor/Pontotoc Progress

Chris Vandiver was approved as the Pontotoc’s new boys basketball coach last week.
Vandiver spent five seasons as head coach at South Pontotoc before spending a season at Saltillo. He returned to South Pontotoc in a non-coaching role last season.
Vandiver replaces Michael Elder, who was hired at Mantachie after one season with the Warriors. Pontotoc went 6-20 last season.
“I’m excited about it. It’s a great opportunity,” Vandiver said. “This program has always had good coaching and I don’t look at this year’s situation as one of rebuilding.”
