Presley, Jennings called up to lead off for their teams

A couple of outfielders with area connections were called up by big-league teams on Tuesday and plugged into leadoff hitter roles:
ALEX PRESLEY: The Pittsburgh Pirates called up Presley, the former Ole Miss standout, for the start of their series against the Cincinnati Reds. Presley was sent down to Triple-A Indianapolis after batting just .220 with two homers.
At Indy, Presley hit .277 in 18 games with five homers, 14 runs and 14 RBIs. Tuesday, he went 2 for 5 and scored twice with an RBI.
DESMOND JENNINGS: The Tampa Bay Rays activated Jennings from the 15-day disabled list for the opener of a three game series against the New York Yankees.
Jennings – a former two sport standout at ICC – has been out since May 12 because of a sprained left knee. The Rays went 12-13 in his absence.
Jennings went 3 for 15 (.200) in a four-game rehabilitation assignment with Durham.
Tuesday, he went 1 for 4 and is hitting .265 for the season.
