Public memorial for Wright is Wednesday in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Public memorial services are Wednesday at FedExForum in Memphis for ex-NBA player Lorenzen Wright.

Wright’s body was found July 28 in woods outside Memphis after he had been missing for 10 days. He was shot to death in what police are calling a homicide. No arrests have been made.

Wright, of Memphis, played for the Memphis Grizzlies from 2001-2006 during his 13-year NBA career. He also played for the University of Memphis and Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis. Before moving to Memphis Wright played at Lafayette County High School and was the NEMS Daily Journal Player of the Year.

The Grizzlies have said they would announce plans later to honor Wright during the upcoming season.
