OXFORD – Ole Miss left-hander Drew Pomeranz was named SEC Pitcher of the Week Monday for his shutout victory over No. 20 Kentucky.
Pomeranz picked up his third win of the season on Friday night as he shut out the Wildcats for six innings and held the Kentucky offense to only one hit in his time on the mound. Pomeranz walked two batters but allowed no runners past second base.
He struck out nine batters in the outing and combined with reliever Eric Callender to post a 9-0 shutout of the Wildcats to pick up the first win of the series.
The Rebels clinched the series with a 7-6 win on Saturday.
