Rebels, Bulldogs sign basketball players for 2014-15

Ole Miss signed four men’s basketball players and Mississippi State signed three on Wednesday, the first day of the fall signing period for basketball and spring sports.

They’ll join their respective rosters for the 2014-15 season.

The Rebels signed 6-foot-1 guard J,T Escobar (Tallahassee, Fla.), 6-7 forward Marcanvis Hymon (Memphis 8TB6_MSU_primary_logoWhitehaven), 5-9 guard Stefan Moody (Kissimmee, Fla.) and 6-10 center Rauno Nurger (Estonia native, now playing at an academy in Kansas).

Moody was the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year at Florida Atlantic last season, averaging 15.7 points per game. He’s playing at Kilgore (Texas) Community College this season.

MSU signed 6-7 forward Demetrius Houston (Montgomery, Ala., Carver), 6-8 forward Oliver Black (Wingfield HS, IMG Academy) and 6-1 guard Maurice Dunlap II (Greenwood, Amanda Elzy HS).

Dunlap committed to MSU a year ago as a sophomore, before Rick Ray had coached his first game for the Bulldogs.
