Rebels early, Dogs late in SEC baseball tourney

By NEMS Daily Journal

The new-look SEC baseball tournament opens Tuesday in Hoover, Ala., with both Mississippi State and Ole Miss in action.
The Bulldogs and Rebels will need to be ready, as the first day is a single elimination round.
Ole Miss, seeded sixth, plays 11th-seeded Kentucky at 9:30 a.m. Mississippi State, seeded fifth, plays 12th-seeded Missouri in a game that could start at 8 p.m, or later.
The Rebels-Wildcats winner will play Arkansas on Wednesday, again in the 9:30 a.m. slot.
The Bulldogs-Tigers winner plays fourth seeded South Carolina in the Wednesday finale.
The loser of those Wednesday games will stay alive, as the tourney then shifts to a double elimination format to set up Saturday’s semifinals. The title game will be on Sunday.
League champ Vanderbilt is the top seed, while LSU is the No. 2 seed.
