Rebels go in shorts in football practice

OXFORD – Ole Miss players went through a light workout in shorts and helmets Thursday, about an hour and a half on the practice fields in advance of the Chucky Mullins award banquet.
Sophomore Clarence Jackson has moved up to take D.T. Shackelford’s place on the first team, joined by middle linebacker Ralph Williams, and Mike Marry who moves from the middle to an outside spot.
The defensive players showed their support of Shackelford by breaking down around him at the end of the workout. Shackelford watched from the sidelines on crutches. He is expected to have surgery within two weeks.
The Rebels will go through another light workout today and will conclude spring drills with the Grove Bowl on Saturday. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
