STARKVILLE – Ole Miss tennis standout Bram ten Berge saw the Rebels win an SEC championship in 2005 with a victory at Mississippi State. He enjoyed the encore victory on Saturday, as the third-ranked Rebels beat Mississippi State 6-1.
The win wrapped up a perfect (11-0) league campaign for the Rebels.
“I have great memories from both,” said ten Berge, asked to compare the two league championships squads he played on. “It’s been a while since we won the SEC. To do it at the same place as last time is a little ironic.
“Before the season you’re not thinking about records and going undefeated. We were trying to win the SEC first. To go 11-0, I know I didn’t see that coming, and I don’t think anyone did. It’s an amazing feat with so many teams in this league in the top 25.”
Ole Miss opened by winning the doubles point, with the top-ranked duo of ten Berge and Jonas Berg clinching it with an 8-6 victory against MSU’s Chris Doerr and Tanner Stump.
Kalle Norberg won at No. 3 singles to wrap up an undefeated (9-0) conference campaign. Ten Berge’s win at No. 4 singles clinched the victory.
