Rebels’ WR Treadwell SEC freshman of week

OXFORD – It’s taken only one game for the Ole Miss freshman class to gain notice from the SEC.

Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, the No. 1 recruit at his position while at Monee High School in Crete, Ill., was named the league’s freshman of the week on Monday.

Treadwell led the Rebels with nine catches for 82 yards, a single-game record for Ole Miss freshmen and the most in eight years.

Treadwell caught passes on three straight plays and four out of five in one third-quarter stretch. He also caught a two-point conversion pass in the third quarter, as the Rebels rallied from 11 points back in their 39-35 win at Vanderbilt.
