As we move into January, recruiting season continues to stay hot. While prospects are not able to visit campuses right now due to the new dead period that will last until mid January, all-star games are starting to heat up and there are plenty of Ole Miss and Mississippi State prospects in on the action.

The Under Armour All-American game will be played in Orlando on Thursday. The Offense/Defense All-American Bowl will be played on Friday, also in Orlando. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl will be played Saturday in San Antonio, Texas. The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl will be played Sunday in Carson, Calif.

The Under Armour All-American game and the U.S. Army All-American bowl are the two all-star games which attract the most talent year-in and yea-out.

Three Ole Miss commitments – OL Rod Taylor (Jackson), DT Garrald McDowell (Covington, La.) and kicker Gary Wunderlich (Memphis) will participate in the Under Armour game. While WR Jesse Jackson (Petal) was selected for the game, he will miss it due to injury.

Prospects that Ole Miss is still in on that will be in the Under Armour game are: RB Bo Scarborough (Bradenton, Fla.), S Laurence “Hootie” Jones (Monroe, La.), TE Jacory Washington (Westlake, La.) and S Jamal Adams (Lewisville, Texas), who will announce at the game.

CB Marlon Humphrey (Hoover, Ala.), who is still being heavily courted by Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs, will also play in the Under Armour game.

Ole Miss will also be represented well in the Army game with commitments CB C.J. Hampton (Meridian) and WR Markell Pack (Purvis). WR Trey Quinn (Lake Charles, La.) and OL Jordan Sims (Homewood, Ala.) are two prospects that have January visits set up with the Rebels and they are still in the game, also.

The Offense/Defense All-American Bowl will have a good bit of Mississippi flavor to it as well. TE Sammie Epps (Greenwood), RB D.K. Buford (Lafayette) and P/K Logan Cooke (Columbia) are all slated to play. Epps recently decommitted from Ole Miss and is now considering MSU, Auburn in addition to the Rebels. Cooke is an MSU commitment, while Buford is committed to Ole Miss.

DT Taylor Stallworth (Mobile, Ala.) and DL Cory Thomas (McCalla, Ala.) are also names of note in the Offense/Defense Bowl; MSU is trying to flip them from South Carolina and Tennessee, respectively.

A pair of MSU commitments will participate in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl – RB Jamoral Graham (Decatur) and LB Gerri Green (Greenville). Green is still attempting to graduate early from high school and despite having all of his credits, is being denied by the Greenville-Weston school district.
