Olympic long jump champion Brittney Reese, the former Ole Miss standout from Gulfport, uncorked the best jump in the world this year to
win a meet last week in Qatar.
Her personal best of 7.25 meters (23 feet, 9 inches) came after two fouls.
“I’ll try to beat the U.S. record this season and this 7.25 makes me feel pretty confident,” Reese said.
Jackie Joyner holds the U.S. record of 7.49 meters (24-7), set in 1994.
