Regular season ends today for SEC women

basketball_icon_greenAfter three consecutive overtime games, Mississippi State travels to Georgia for its regular-season finale at noon today.

MSU (18-11, 5-10) has won the last two meetings against Georgia, including a 80-67 victory in Starkville on Feb. 2.

Georgia holds a 26-14 lead in the series and State has lost its last six trips to Stegeman Coliseum. Mississippi State’s last win in Athens came in 2002.

Junior center Martha Alwal continues to lead MSU with 15.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. In Alwal’s previous outing against Georgia, she paced State with 20 points.

Georgia (6-9, 18-10) is coming off a 67-56 loss at No. 4 South Carolina.

Ole Miss: The Rebels (10-19, 1-14) have one more chance to snap a losing streak that has reached nine games. They host Auburn (16-12, 7-8) today at 2 p.m.

Three Ole Miss seniors will be honored – guard Valencia McFarland, forward Kenyotta Jenkins (Potts Camp) and guard Diara Moore.
