Former Mississippi State slugger Hunter Renfroe made his professional debut Thursday with the Eugene Emerald of the Northwest League.

Renfroe batted third and went 2-for-4 with a single and a double and scored a run as the Emeralds snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over Everette. He was the team’s right fielder.

We are here in Oregon for a baseball camp and got to see Renfroe play last night. He was very impressive. The Emeralds share their home field with the University of Oregon. It’s a relatively new, beautiful, quaint stadium with a western theme that sits just a few hundred yards from the Willamette River. I believe both Ole Miss and MSU’s stadiums are bigger, and of course, much louder. This is a good place to hone your skills for the next level of play. Looks like this kid is on his way.
