Looking back: The Bulldogs went 3-1 last week with a 3-0 midweek win over Southern Illinois at home and won their first series at Georgia since 1997 over the weekend. MSU lost the Friday game 7-1 but bounced back in a Saturday doubleheader winning 6-1 and 4-1.

In the SEC: The Bulldogs host their SEC home opener against No. 6 Vanderbilt starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. on CSS. The 6:30 p.m. game on Saturday will be televised on ESPNU and Sunday’s finale begins at 1:30 p.m.
MVP: In just his second career start, junior Ross Mitchell earned a complete game victory in Game 2 on Saturday against Georgia sparking MSU’s moral after a deflating loss on Friday. Mitchell gave up just one run on four hits with five strikeouts and four walks improving to 3-1 on the year and 19-1 for his career. The Smyrna, Tenn., southpaw garnered SEC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks for his performance.
