HANNIBAL, Mo. – Former Tupelo High and current Samford University player Gardner Richey had a productive summer in the Prospect League, a summer collegiate league in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
Playing for the Hannibal, Mo., Cavemen, Richey, an outfielder, batted .301, hit 9 homers and drove in 34 runs to earn the team’s offensive MVP honors and a Prospect League First-Team All-Star selection.
Richey will be entering his junior year this fall.
