Ripley standout signs with BMC

BLUE MOUNTAIN – Anna Hamilton, a five-time letter-winner for the Ripley Tigers, signed a softball grant-in-aid with the Blue Mountain College Lady Toppers on Tuesday. BMC will field its first softball team in fall 2010 in the NAIA TranSouth Athletic Conference.

Hamilton, a catcher and 2009 All-Tippah County performer for the Lady Tigers, hit .270 with 4 doubles, 1 triple, 12 RBI and an on-base percentage of .446 in an injury-shortened season last year.

As a junior, she batted .341 with one home run and 25 RBI. For the Mississippi Fury summer league team, Hamilton hit .333 with 3 triples, 2 doubles and 13 RBI.

“Anna is a tough, hard-nosed player who is like having a coach on the field,” BMC coach Lady Toppers said. “She is an aggressive, natural leader who works hard on and off the field. When we start our program next fall, she’ll be the type of player who makes everyone around her better. We’re excited that she’s going to be such an integral part of our first team.”
