Alex Rowland shot a season-best 68 at Riverbirch Country Club to take home medalist honors at the Itawamba Invitational, the lowest round turned in by any player in the MACJC this season.
The final season standings saw the Houston native overcome a six-shot deficit heading into the final event of the year to defeat East Mississippi’s Michael Lauseng by less than half a stroke to become the first-ever ICC golfer to earn the Hubert Tucker Award, an award honoring the player with the lowest scoring average on the season.
The recipient of the award automatically qualifies for the NJCAA National Championship Tournament to be held May 18th and 19th at Palm Valley Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona.
Rowland averaged 74.3 per event and was also named MACJC All-State.
