BLUE MOUNTAIN – Jake Littlejohn, a steady-hitting catcher for the Saltillo Tigers, has signed a baseball grant-in-aid with Blue Mountain College.
Littlejohn is hitting .300 for the Tigers this season with and has a .470 on-base percentage that includes four doubles, 10 walks, six runs batted in, and leads the team in being hit by pitches (six).
“Jake is a solid ballplayer,” said BMC coach Curt Fowler. “He’s a strong defensive player with a really good arm, and he’s a catcher who can control a ballgame. At the plate, he has a knack for getting on base and that’s invaluable. He’s played for Coach Johnny Bolen all these years, so you know he’s a good player.”
The Toppers begin NAIA competition in the NAIA TranSouth Athletic Conference in fall 2010.
