SEC BASEBALL: Arkansas eliminates Mississippi State with 7-2 win

HOOVER, Ala. — Arkansas took advantage of two wild pitches and two fielding errors by Mississippi State in a 7-2 win Thursday that eliminated the Bulldogs from the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.

The Razorbacks will advance to Friday’s third round game against the loser of Thursday afternoon’s Alabama-Florida game.

James McCann went 4-for-5 with two RBI, part of a 14-hit game for the Razorbacks (37-19). The top five batters in the Arkansas lineup combined to go 12-for-22.

Arkansas starter D.J. Baxendale (9-2) held the Bulldogs (34-23) to six hits and two runs over five innings.

MSU starter Nick Routt (2-3) struck out the side in the first inning but gave up three singles and threw two wild pitches.

The Bulldogs’ Jarrod Parks went 2-for-4.
