SEC women: Rebels on TV today, eager for a rebound

The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will try bounce back from its first loss in six games today at home against Florida.
Tipoff at Tad Smith Coliseum is 2 p.m. The game will be televised by Fox Sports South, and admission is free.
Ole Miss (14-6, 5-2 SEC) had a five-game win streak snapped Thursday in a 64-50 loss at South Carolina. The Rebels are tied for second in the SEC.
The Gators (11-9, 4-3 SEC) have scored more than 60 points just once in its last five games and rank 11th in the SEC with 64.7 points a game.
Ole Miss guard Bianca Thomas continues to lead the Rebels and the SEC in scoring at 21.1 points a game, but Thomas hasn’t scored 20 in a game since dropping 42 on No. 12 LSU on Jan. 17. Since shooting 13-for-26 from the floor against the Lady Tigers, Thomas is 10-for-37 (27 percent).
Thomas was 2-for-10 from the floor and scored eight points at South Carolina.
The Rebels continue to get strong play from guard Kayla Melson, who enters the weekend second on the team and 16th in the SEC with 12.7 points per game. She also leads the conference and ranks eighth in the nation with 6.3 assists per game.
