Several area hoops players chosen for All-Star games

Six of Northeast Mississippi’s top girls basketball players have been selected to play in the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Basketball Game scheduled for March 16 in Montgomery, Ala.
Pontotoc coach Bill Russell, who led his Lady Warriors to a 4A state championship, is an assistant on the Mississippi staff.
A pair of Daily Journal All-Area selections were chosen for the boys contest.
The games will be played at 5 p.m. (girls) and 7 p.m. (boys) at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on the Alabama State University campus.
The rosters for this summer’s annual Mississippi Association of Coaches North/South allstar games have also been announced.
There are five area players in the girls game on July 10 at Mississippi College. Lafayette’s Amy Sutton is a member of the coaching staff.
Six area players will participate in the boys game.
