Several High School sporting events called off due to weather concerns

Below freezing temperatures and possible treacherous driving conditions have forced several Northeast Mississippi high schools to call off their sporting events for this weekend.
The Monroe County basketball tournament will not be held this year due to the recent weather. The same goes for Saturday’s New Albany Girls Classic.
The Tippah County basketball tournament was called off for the weekend, but the county’s basketball coaches will discuss on Monday whether they will be able to make it up.
The Alcorn County basketball tournament will finally get under way this morning at 10, and the tournament’s championship games will be held on Monday night.
The Tater Tournament will wrap up play today, and Tupelo Christian Preparatory School will travel to the Golden Triangle to play Immanuel Christian.
The Tupelo-Pontotoc soccer matches scheduled for today in Pontotoc have been postponed, along with the New Albany-Corinth matches set to be played in Corinth.
