• The Blue Mountain College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Tougaloo on Thursday. The Toppers (2-3) won 11-1 and 2-0.
Hunter Mize (Lafayette) had three hits and four RBIs in the opening contest for BMC. John Paul Barber (Nettleton) was the winning pitcher in the nightcap for the Toppers by allowing four hits and striking out four.

• Senior Brittany Bell hit her first career grand slam to give Mississippi State first-year softball coach Vann Stuedeman a victory in her debut in the Bulldogs’ 7-2 win against South Alabama on Thursday. MSU takes on Lipscomb today at the Mardi Gras Invitational in Mobile.
