• The Mississippi State softball team defeated Jacksonville State 8-1 on Saturday in Mobile. New MSU coach Vann Stuedeman has won her first three games with the team, a first in the program’s history.

• The Blue Mountain College baseball team (3-5) salvaged the last game of a weekend series with Spring Hill, winning 6-4 on Saturday as Nate Bell ripped a two-out single in the top of the seventh inning.

• The Delta State women extended their basketball winning streak to 11 games with Saturday’s 65-42 victory at West Alabama. Brooke Rhodes scored a career-high 27 for the Lady Statesmen (17-4, 10-1 Gulf South Conference).
