Simmons remains patient during NFL free agency

FALKNER – In an interview following the B.A.K.E.R.S. camp, NFL free agent Kendall Simmons said when it comes to signing with a new team he’ll just have to be patient and let the process run its course.
Due to financial reasons, in February, the Pittsburgh Steelers parted ways with Simmons after he spent his entire seven-year career with the team. In that span, Simmons was a part of two Super Bowl winning teams (2006, 2009) and went to two Pro Bowls.
Simmons’ 08-09 season was cut short after he tore his Achilles tendon in a Monday Night Football game against the Baltimore Ravens. Simmons has fully recovered from the injury and hopes to make a NFL roster in the very near future.
“Right now I have a handful of teams interested in me–San Diego, Arizona, New Orleans, Green Bay, Carolina, and Buffalo,” said Simmons. “Worst case scenario, I’ll be sitting at the house until September, waiting in case someone gets injured.”
