A long standing argument about which is the southeast’s best high school football program will finally be settled on the gridiron in 2011 and 2012.
Prep powerhouses South Panola and Hoover (Ala.) have reached an agreement to play on Aug. 27 next season in Hoover and will meet again in Batesville in 2012.
South Panola, which has won 115 of its last 117 games since 2002, is ranked No. 1 in the Rivals.com Top 100 poll, while Hoover sits at No. 4.
South Panola coach Lance Pogus said he was very excited to show his program off to the country. He added his team would be open to more regional games in the future.
“We don’t have much interest in going to California or things like that, but regional games with Hoover, Colquitt and maybe (Louisiana schools) West Monroe or John Curtis would be of interest,” Pogue told Rivals.com.
