HATTIESBURG – The Southern Miss football team returns to work today after a rest day following the team’s first full scrimmage on Saturday.
“Overall, we got a lot done,” first-year coach Ellis Johnson said. “Mother Nature didn’t cooperate like I wanted and she actually made it too cool.”
Junior Chris Campbell led the passing corps with a 7 for 11 performance with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Freshman QB Anthony Alford completed 5 of 7 passes for 49
yards and ran eight times for 28 yards and a short TD.
Junior Jeremy Hester led all rushers with 64 yards on 10 carries with TDs of 6 and 30 yards.
“We had a ton of improvement in a lot of areas,” said Johnson. “We are executing our running game pretty well.”
