Southern Miss coach talks about players arrest

HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora says punishment will be handled internally for three players arrested after allegedly refusing to leave when a police officer tried to clear a crowd after a pool party at a Hattiesburg home.

Fedora tells the Hattiesburg American that the players — receivers DeAndre Brown and Johdrick Morris and linebacker Martez Smith — likely will not be suspended. He says the punishment would be handled before the season.

Each was charged last week with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Brown caught 47 passes for 785 yards and nine touchdowns last season.

Smith had 82 tackles in 13 games.

Morris played in nine games and started five, catching eight passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.
