HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss football coach Larry Fedora has hired Je’Ney Jackson as an assistant and promoted two others currently on his staff.

Jackson comes to Southern Miss after five years with Kansas’ football program, including the last three seasons as cornerbacks coach. Before that, he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at KU and at Wyoming.

Fedora says Jackson is a great teacher and recruiter who will fit right in with the Golden Eagles’ program. He didn’t specify what duties Jackson would handle.

Fedora also on Thursday announced promotions affecting quarterbacks coach Blake Anderson and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.

Anderson will add offensive coordinator to his duties and Kapilovic has been given the added responsibility of run-game coordinator.
