Southern Miss loses series at East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Chase McDonald laced a single through the left side in the bottom of the ninth to lift East Carolina to a 3-2 victory over
Southern Miss on Sunday.
That snapped a string of five-straight Conference USA series victories for the Golden Eagles (25-21, 14-7). Southern Miss lost 6-3 on Friday and won 10-9 on Saturday in 11 innings.
The Golden Eagles lead C-USA by 11⁄2 games with one league series – at Houston on May 16-18 – left to play.
ECU (26-22, 10-8) has won nine of its last 11.
